Subscriptions

Types of Subscriptions

Moxie enables you to offer Monthly and Weekly Subscriptions, with multiple types, tiers, and offers.

With Monthly Subscriptions you can offer the choice of:

  • Unlimited access to your Live Classes and Video on Demand “VOD” recordings

  • VOD Only -- includes access to your videos.

Weekly Subscriptions include access to all of your classes and VOD.


You can create multiple tiers of subscriptions (for example 3 different price points for monthly subscriptions), however only one can be visible on your profile at a time. Read on to learn how to use Hidden subscriptions to grandfather students and to create subscription special offers.

Note: Hidden/private classes are excluded from subscription purchases.

Let’s learn how to set up subscriptions

First, you need to set up your Payments if you haven’t already. Then simply navigate to the Subscription tab on your profile.

Once there, click on Add Subscription.

  • Weekly Unlimited Live Classes & VOD

  • Monthly Unlimited Live Classes & VOD

  • Monthly VOD

These first two options are similar, with one difference being the billing cycle - weekly is charged every week, while monthly - subscribers pay at the end of the month for the next one. You can find more details on billing cycles below.

Monthly VOD - gives your clients an option to pay for access to your VOD library (requires Moxie Premium). This does not give access to your live classes - VOD subscribers would still need to pay the drop-in fee if they wanted to join a live class.

You can create as many subscriptions tiers as you like, however only one monthly, one weekly or one VOD subscription can be visible on your profile at a time.

Once you create the subscription type you want, you can actively control who can see or purchase your subscriptions:

  • Visible - anyone who is visiting your public profile on Moxie.

  • Hidden - only people who have a direct URL link to that subscription. This allows you to create special promotional subscriptions to attract new clients.

What happens to my current subscribers if I hide a subscription?

Hiding (or un-hiding) a subscription does not affect your subscribers to that plan. They can still attend your classes, and their subscriptions will be automatically renewed at the appropriate billing cycle.


What happens to my current subscribers if I make my subscription not available for purchase?
Making your subscription available or not available for purchase does not affect your subscribers to that plan. They can still attend your classes, and their subscriptions will be automatically renewed at the appropriate billing cycle. No new clients can purchase the subscription if it is not available for purchase.


How do I grandfather certain clients into a lower subscription price?

Use hidden subscriptions to lock one set of clients in at a lower price while showing a different price on your public profile. Simply hide the subscription you want to make available exclusively to a certain set of clients. Only people who you send a private link to a hidden subscription will be able to see or purchase that plan.


For example:

  1. Set your monthly subscription to $100 USD.

  2. When you are ready, hide this subscription so it’s only available to persons with the private link.

  3. Then, create a new monthly subscription for $125 USD which is visible on your profile.

  4. Your old clients will continue paying $100, while new subscribers will be charged $125.


How can I share my subscription?

You can share your subscriptions by clicking on the share icon.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I create a special subscription offer?

Yes. Simply create a new subscription and hide that subscription. Only people with the link will be able to purchase that subscription.

Can I have multiple weekly/monthly/VOD subscriptions active at the same time?

No, only 1 active subscription is allowed per subscription type at a time. You can have an unlimited number of hidden subscriptions.

Can I offer class packs, such as 10 classes of a certain type for the price of 8?

Can my subscribers switch between subscription types?

Yes, your subscribers can switch between your subscriptions. If they are moving from a lower priced plan to a higher priced plan, they will be required to pay the difference.

When are my subscribers charged?

  • For weekly subscriptions, the subscription period is Sunday through Saturday. It automatically renews and charges your subscribers every Saturday at 3pm EST.

  • For monthly subscriptions, the subscription period begins on the first of each month and renews at 3pm EST on the last day of the month.

What happens if I change the subscription price?

If you change the price of a subscription, your current subscribers will be notified about the change, which would be applied on the next billing cycle. Your new clients would pay the new price immediately after the change.

Price changes for a weekly subscription are applied on the billing cycle of the following week, if they are made after Wednesday 8pm EST.

Price changes for a monthly subscription are applied on the billing cycle of the following month, if they are made within 3 days before the last day of the month.

What happens if I cancel the subscription?

You can choose to cancel the subscription immediately, or after it expires. If you choose to cancel a subscription immediately, all of your current subscribers will receive a partial refund (depending on when you cancel), and their booked seats will be canceled. Your future classes are not automatically canceled.

If you choose to cancel after subscription expires - subscription will be automatically cancelled on the last day of the subscription at midnight, and your clients will not be charged for renewal. Your future classes are not automatically canceled.

When are earnings from subscriptions released to my account?

Earnings from weekly subscriptions are released to your account at the end of the period - every Saturday at 12pm EST for the previous week.

Earnings from monthly subscriptions are released in two parts: a partial amount is paid on the 15th of the month at 12 pm EST, and the remainder on the last day of the month at 12 pm EST.

Class Packages

On Moxie you can now set up class packages!

Your Class Package can include any number of classes, at any price (including free), for use within any length of time.

Moving your clients towards longer term packages and subscriptions has the dual benefit of providing you with greater revenue predictability while encouraging higher attendance and loyalty.

We recommend creating several packages with increasing discount levels, in tandem with your subscriptions. For example, if your classes are $10 each you might want to sell them as follows:

  • 1 class for $10 (drop-in price)

  • 5 classes for $45 (10% discount)

  • 10 classes for $80 (20% discount)

  • $90/month (30% discount if you assume the typical client takes 12 classes per month)

Please note: Class Packages allow your clients to book any public paid class, or unlock any single Video in your VOD library. At the moment, Class Packages cannot be used for hidden classes or flex pay classes.

Create a Class Package

To start, simply click on the “Add” button in the Subscriptions tab to begin, and select “Package” on the next page.

Once selected you will have the following options:

When creating a paid class package you can select

  • the number of classes you want to include (1 to 100),

  • set the expiry date (from the date of each package purchase),

  • cost, and also limit the number of times one client can purchase this particular package:

  • Unlimited - clients can purchase or top up their class packages as many times as they want.

  • Specific # of times - you can set how many times one client can purchase this particular class package. For example, if you are creating a promotional package, you can set it to 1 purchase per client, so once purchased, they cannot purchase it again or top it up.

When creating a free class package, you can set the number of packages (1 to 5), and the expiration date. By default, free packages are limited to 1 purchase per person, and to 1 active free package at a time.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

How do my clients use their packages to book classes?

Once a package is purchased, your clients will have the option to use one of the passes in their package to book a class, or they can purchase the class in dollars if they wish to save their pass for another time. 1 pass is good for 1 live class.

How do my clients use their packages to unlock videos on demand?

Once a package is purchased, your clients will be able to spend a pass to unlock any of your videos from your video tab. 1 pass is good for 1 video unlocking. Once unlocked the video can be watched multiple times by the purchaser, with no expiry.

Can I choose which of my classes are included in the package?

Currently not. At present, Class Packages can be used for any of your live public classes or VODs.

Can I send a client a specific class video to take along with a link to purchase a pass or with a free pass?

The best way to accomplish this is to (A) place the desired class video into a Collection, (B) send your client a link to the Collection along with a link to a hidden package promotion. See above for how to create hidden packages.

When do I receive payments for class packages used to book my classes?
Payments for class packages used to book classes are released 48 hours after the class completion.

What happens if I cancel my class package?

You have two options when canceling your class package:

  • Cancel Now - This will cancel the package immediately and your clients will get a refund for unused passes.

  • Cancel after the package ends - This will cancel the package after the expiration date.
